Poverty

The poor are all around us,
Invisible to all,
If we would just reach out,
We’d help them to not fall.

It’s they, who are the people,
Who you pay to get food,
Yet they cannot supply,
With an income that is crude.

They work to sew the clothing,
That we show off with pride,
They don’t get paid enough
To make there debt subside.

They’re trapped inside a cycle,
That’s fierce and quite intense,
If they can break the chains,
There chance is but a glimpse.

It makes you sit and wonder
Why must they be forsook?
If man’s created equal,
Then why are some men broke?

Why must they spend each hour,
In worry and despair?
If there were a way out,
They’d fight hard to get there!
